Family Days Out in Bath

Bath is a very compact city and with Dukes offering such ideal central Bath accommodation you are ideally placed to explore the city with the family. Access by road and especially by foot is particularly easy, making travelling with smaller children who still require pushchairs that much more convenient.

There are plenty of family friendly parks, restaurants, cafes, and many of the main attractions in Bath city centre are geared towards family entertainment.  Victoria Park which is one of the most delightful parks in Bath with its ornate statues, floral displays and ponds is just lovely to stroll around. If you are with children then the park has much more to offer than just a ‘stroll in the park’ as there are several tennis courts, a crazy golf course and bowling green; and if you have teenage children then there is a pitch and putt golf course. For really young children, there is a playground with climbing frames and swings and for the keen skateboarder in the family then the park boasts the Bath Vert Skate Park which is well regarded by skating enthusiasts.

Attractions and festivals are plentiful here and there is a wonderful Children’s Bath Literature Festival which takes place from September to October. The festival is popular with families and attracts leading children's book authors and illustrators; Lauren Childs is well renowned for her attendance. The Literature festival is the largest in the UK and attracts people and authors worldwide offering over 80 separate ticketed events for young ones to enjoy.

Christmas is also a fabulous time to visit Bath with the family. The Christmas festivities highlights include the Christmas Market and events which run from late November through December each year are a very magical affair.  Dukes accommodation in central Bath, means that no matter how young or old your family members are they may all enjoy everything that Bath has to offer over the Christmas period. The lights, the Christmas market, carol concerts, ice skating rinks together with hot mugs of chocolate and sparkling champagne enjoyed in front of warm log fire with twinkling lights on the Christmas tree, make a stay at Dukes truly magnificent.
